Forest Hills Neighborhood Kids Summer Art Makers & Tinkers’ Play Group

We get it! Summer is here and you have plans for most of it, except for that ONE WEEK! :) Let us fill that gap for you with a small group neighborhood arts experience!

WEEK 1 & 2. DIGITAL ARTS STOP MOTION ANIMATION

JULY 8 - 11 and JULY 15 - 18

Ever wondered how Lego Batman was created or Gumby an oldy but a goody! lol Join our Stop Animation neighborhood makers and tinkers' play group and find out! Behind every great film, there must be a few elements present, backgrounds, characters, a story/plot and movement. Learn how to create all 4 of these animation elements through a hands-on class experience! Warning! This makers and tinkers' play group is a a week long and will culminate into a play group community viewing to premiere their work, every Thursday evening. So invite family and friends and if you're working , no worries, we will send you your child's film so that you can have their masterpiece to share with loved ones!

CHOOSE A GROUP WEEK:

• WEEK ONE - July 8 - 11, Monday - Thursday (8:30 - 12:30pm)

• WEEK TWO - July 15 - 18, Monday - Thursday (8:30 - 12:30pm)

WHAT'S INCLUDED: 
- Animation materials, such as: Legos, Clay, Paper, Paint, etc. 
- Taught animation techniques and storyboarding 
- Apps 
- iPads 
- Smocks 
- Encouraged discussions between kids 
- Wet wipes 
- Art materials 
- Each session will have a new creative open-ended art problem to solve, medium to explore, technique to try and artist to study

WEEK 3 & 4. HANDMADE BOOKMAKING

JULY 22 - 25 and JULY 29 - AUGUST 1

WEEK 5 & 6. PAINTING & DRAWING

AUGUST 5 - 8 and AUGUST 12 - 15

We are fascinated with assemblage, book binding, and book making! We LOVE IT! In this play group, we will work collectively to learn from each other through technique building, how to create our very own books! That's right! From end to end, we will create, our own paper, binding, and inside content! Every Thursday, will culminate with a student show, exhibiting the work and methods!

CHOOSE A GROUP WEEK:

• WEEK FIVE - August 5 - 8, Monday - Thursday (8:30 - 12:30pm)

• WEEK SIX - August 12 - 15, Monday - Thursday (8:30 - 12:30pm)

Each makers & tinkers' play group session will aim at connecting students with technical skill and to their creative authentic voice through a fun energetic journey! Each morning begins and ends with inquiry and critique to develop voice, exercise listening and practice giving feedback.

This makers and tinkers' play group is a week long and will culminate into a play group community viewing to premiere their work, every Thursday evening. So invite family and friends and if you're working , no worries, we will send you your child's film so that you can have their masterpiece to share with loved ones!
