New Fall 2019 Neighborhood Art Classes at Lidia’s Play Cafe! (Sept 9 - Oct 29) & Free Art Demo Day: Mon. Aug. 26th (3:15-4:15pm)
(Ages 1 - 8)
As an on-going goal of providing our neighborhood with quality art experiences, we are really excited to be offering NEW FALL ART CLASS & OPEN PLAY AT LIDIA’S PLAY CAFE (71-06 Fresh Pond Rd, Ridgewood) for children ages 1-8!
Artful storytime at the beginning of class
NEW FALL ART CURRICULUM: Each semester, we take a playful dive into the Elements of Art with our little artists, which are, form, shape, line, color, value, texture, space, value, and perspective. We breakdown these basic art & math skills into toddler friendly projects. THIS FALL, WE STUDY…Lines, Shapes, and Texture, (ages 3-4 will have a social creative emphasis on counting)
Smock (NOTE: We use acrylic paint because it’s resilient bright colors, ease of mixing colors, and it’s a fine art medium. ACRYLIC PAINT DOES NOT COME OUT OF CLOTHES Please bring your little artist in clothing that you won’t mind getting permanently dirty.)
Each session will have a new creative open-ended art problem to solve, medium to explore, technique to try and artist to study
1 HOUR of Open Play, before or after class on your class day at Lidia’s Play Cafe, with the exception of the Drawing& Clay Movie which does not include Open Play
Mini art exhibition to showcase your little artist’s work at the end of the Fall Session
Exciting right?! We can hardly wait to begin! We're at Lidia’s Play Cafe so we can have a chance to meet and get to know all Queens / Ridgewood, Middle Village, Bushwick, Glendale, and Maspeth families while supporting neighborhood small-owned businesses. :)
Meet Our FALL Art Class Partner: Lidia’s Play Cafe. A Montessori-Inspired Play Space.
Lidia’s Play Cafe is a BRAND NEW spacious open indoor play space and coffee bar. Oh boy, their coffee bar is robust! For sure! The play space really makes their café special and was designed with two ideas in mind:
to create a fun and safe play room environment that we would want for our own child
to design a Montessori inspired play zone – simple and uncluttered, natural, developmentally inclined, open and cozy
Most of their toys are made of environmentally friendly wood and were carefully selected to promote the development of children through play. Lidia’s Play Cafe’s space is great for the kids to mingle while parents enjoy their café selections.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT LIDIA’S PLAY CAFE: PLEASE READ: Lidia’s Play Café is a family owned and operated business that was inspired by their daughter, Lidia. Their journey began with a devotion to provide Ridgewood, Queens and its adjacent neighborhoods with a café that parents with small children could appreciate and enjoy. Please leave your shoes on the rack when you enter and enjoy! Please bring socks.
